Joelle Davidovich Pomponette, known as Pompo, has an eye for successful films. As an up-and-coming producer in the dream factory of Nyallywood and the granddaughter of a legendary film mogul, she delivers one reliable blockbuster after another – though it has little to do with a genuine love for cinema, as they are all trashy B-movies filled with plenty of skin, action, and explosions. Pompo's personal assistant, the nervously neurotic Gene, takes a completely different approach: cinema is art and must enchant! Pompo is skeptical but is swept away by Gene's fascination and gives him the task of directing her next screenplay. Thus, Gene plunges into an adventure to unite art and commerce, not to overextend his tight budget, and ultimately: to finish on time! Will Gene's film debut succeed and perhaps even become a hit?
