The bored programmer Paul Hackett (Griffin Dunne) meets the enchanting Marcy (Rosanna Arquette) in a New York café. When she leaves him her address, he doesn't expect that this rendezvous will lead to the craziest night of his life – because after midnight, different rules apply – and even during the drive to Marcy, a wild odyssey begins. In this black comedy by Oscar-winner Martin Scorsese, he portrays his hometown New York in a clever and winking variation of "The Wizard of Oz" as a haven for neurotics and crazies. As the events become increasingly surreal, Scorsese, thanks to the excellent cast and imaginative direction, creates a small masterpiece. Griffin Dunne, who defies all the night's challenges until dawn, is honored with a Golden Globe nomination for his performance.
