Plaion Tarantula

During a fire at a laboratory in the California desert, where a researcher is experimenting with growth accelerators, a toxic tarantula escapes. Soon, the creature reaches monstrous proportions, threatening to wipe out entire cities. Armed with napalm bombs, the American Air Force moves in to eliminate the beast. This horror film, staged with simple dramatic means yet thrilling and stylishly executed, has become a classic of the genre. Casually but effectively, it develops an underlying erotic and political mythology: the spider as an incarnation of threatening instincts, but also as an expression of growing fears of nuclear war.
