Imagine there was a machine that transfers your memories to others. Scientists Lilian Reynolds and Michael Brace achieve a sensational invention: a device capable of recording thoughts, feelings, and experiences on a magnetic tape and transferring them into another person's brain. When the heart-sick Lilian suffers a severe heart attack, she decides to document her own death. However, her unscrupulous financier, industrialist Alex Terson, sells the device to the military, where it is intended for use in brainwashing. At the same time, he orders that the tape containing Lilian's death experiences be kept under lock and key. Desperate, Michael tries to gain access to the Brainstorm project.

Special effects pioneer Douglas Trumbull delivers his second directorial work after Silent Running. The result is a captivating blend of conspiracy thriller and visually stunning science fiction, supported by a magnificent cast. Alongside Christopher Walken, Hollywood legend Natalie Wood, who tragically died under mysterious circumstances during filming, appears in her final role.
