Short Description:
Halberstadt in the summer of 1990. Maren (Sandra Hüller), Robert (Max Riemelt), and Volker (Ronald Zehrfeld) have known and loved each other since childhood. By chance, they discover in an old shaft the millions of East German marks that were stored there to rot. The three smuggle backpacks full of money out. Together with their friends and neighbors, they develop a clever system to exchange the now worthless money for goods and outsmart the incoming West Germans and their capitalism.
