For Chinese-Canadian teenager Jake, his last year of high school has just begun—and everyone seems to have expectations of him: His father wants him to put more energy into basketball training, his girlfriend wants a serious relationship, and on social media, life always has to look perfect. When openly gay basketball star Aleks moves in with his family across the street, Jake's priorities change dramatically. To get closer to Aleks, he joins the basketball team. The plan works—until their secret relationship is accidentally revealed, forcing them to reassess some expectations. How does a young gay man grow up today under the watchful eyes of parents, classmates, and social media? Director Jason Karman answers this question with an athletic coming-of-age film that also tells the unique challenges of coming out in the Asian-Canadian community.
