Twenty-year-old Adam is thrown out by his mother. He is in debt, and his life is spiraling out of control. Aimlessly, he drifts around the island of Lindö and eventually breaks into what appears to be an empty holiday home. However, the next morning, he encounters 86-year-old Britta. She wants to spend the summer on the island, despite her daughter having forbidden her to travel alone. At first, Britta is not thrilled about the intruder, but then they strike a deal: Adam can stay with Britta, but he must help out in the house and garden. Unbeknownst to them, a magical summer awaits them.
