By chance, Penny's entire detective gang, along with the dogs Mailie and Dschastin, meets in the Italian town of Fiorente to spend their summer vacation. And that's a good thing. Strange occurrences are happening at the luxury hotel where Flora's family is staying: numerous expensive towels and bathrobes embroidered with the Luxurioso emblem are disappearing. Is the tip-hungry waiter involved? Or the receptionist with the tall hairdo? Or Penny's neighbor from Germany, who has a temporary job as a maid at the hotel?
