The purchasing director Heinrich Lohse (Loriot) is unexpectedly sent into early retirement. He announces the "joyful" news to his family that he will now dedicate his experiences to the family and household. Heinrich immediately tries to make the family's grocery shopping as cost-effective as possible. However, his wife Renate doesn't see much positive in the discount advantage of two pallets of mustard for a three-person household. More chaos is not long in coming, and a bitter conflict threatens to break out in the Lohse household. And then the 80th birthday of the mother-in-law is also approaching...
