Out of the dementia trap!

Current dementia research is convinced that dementia is caused by age-related degradation processes and deposits in the brain. Gerald Hüther, one of the leading brain researchers, makes it clear in an easily understandable way and with convincing arguments that this idea, which was developed in the last century, is not only inaccurate. It has also obscured the phenomenon that is actually responsible for the development of dementia: the suppression of the brain's ability to regenerate and compensate, which is normally present into old age. However, almost all of us inevitably lose this neuroplastic potential in a world in which we increasingly lose the joy of personal discovery and collective creativity as we grow older.
