Product details

Oskar Werner was a gifted actor - and a gifted speaker. His interpretations of Rainer Maria Rilke's works will probably always remain unrivalled. When Oskar Werner spoke Rilke, it was - as Ewald Markl once wrote - one of the most beautiful ways of making music. This recording contains two readings of 'Die Weise von Liebe und Tod des Cornets Christoph Rilke' on CD 1, which are very far apart in time: an ORF recording from 1952 and a production from 1980, which was recorded a few years before Oskar Werner's death. CD 2 offers a selection of 20 poems by Rilke, which Oskar Werner recorded himself.
