Episode 1 - 6

In 1869 Iceland, a stranger arrives in the harbor, bringing great excitement to the small town. On their farm Mödruvellir, twelve-year-old Nonni and his eight-year-old brother Manni hope that their father, who has been missing for many years, will return home. To their surprise, a man named Harald Helgarsson, a friend of their missing father, comes to the farm. However, he brings devastating news: their father is dead and will never return.

Harald wants to help the boys cope with this tragedy and takes a position with farmer Sigurd to stay close to them. This angers businessman Magnus Hansson, who wishes to marry Sigrid, their mother, and sees Harald as a rival. When the body of a wealthy farmer is discovered, Harald becomes a suspect in the murder and must flee to the mountains. Nonni and Manni support him, but Sigrid is torn between believing her children or Magnus Hansson, who warns her about the stranger.

When the boys attempt to visit Harald in hiding, pursuers appear, forcing them to escape. They vanish without a trace. Harald secretly joins the search for them but is unsuccessful. Eventually, it is Magnus Hansson who brings the boys back to their desperate mother. As winter approaches, Nonni and Manni can no longer contact Harald, making their chance encounter with him at Christmas all the more joyous. He is finally ready to confront the bailiff and prove his innocence, with Nonni, Manni, and Sigrid by his side.

Time is running out for Hansson, who must silence the stranger. Nonni and Manni rush ahead into the mountains to warn Harald of the impending danger. Suddenly, a volcano erupts, putting the boys' lives at risk.
