We are currently experiencing an epochal transformation, much like when the Middle Ages were replaced by the Renaissance or when modernity shook the bourgeoisie. Yet, we often view the new with old eyes and fail to recognize that progress changes us as well. For Ranga Yogeshwar, personal immediate experience is crucial. He recounts his visits to a cloning lab in South Korea, a rewilding station in Sumatra, underground ice caves in Spitsbergen, and the destroyed nuclear facilities in Fukushima. In a personal experiment, he tests how one can be eavesdropped on with an "infected" mobile phone. He also recalls how his Indian grandfather introduced the first mobile library to provide people access to the knowledge treasures of the past.
