Product details

The story is based on the tale from "Das Järbsyte Peters Gschichtli vom alten Napoleon und vom Chräjebüel," which was written down in 1908. Napoleon actually had a Bernese horse dealer and maintained a special relationship with him. Järbsyte Peter knew the horse dealer Chräjebüel personally, and Emil Günter heard the story and recorded it in 1908 after prompting his friends. The little book can possibly still be found in an antiquarian shop; there are also some reprints available. However, the present story is quite different from "Järbsyte-Peters Gschichtli." Napoleon's friend is named Bänz Guetchnächt and hails from the Lushütte-Hoger at Napf. The developments between Bänz and Napoleon lead from Lushütte up in Napf all the way to Waterloo. Naturally, Bern is also mentioned, as the Näppu ultimately ensured that the good old patricians of Bern had (almost) nothing left to say.
