It tells the life story of Sara Lehmann, who arrives in South Africa from Germany in 1948 together with other orphans. An influential Boer family adopts the four-year-old girl without knowing that she is Jewish. When one day her papers arrive, the adoptive father withdraws his affection for her. Only the adoptive mother and the oldest brother continue to treat Sara with love and respect. After graduating from high school, Sara decides to study law in order to fight for the rights of the black population as a lawyer. In doing so, she crosses the line of legality. Although she is acquitted, she has to flee from the secret service. But Sara continues to fight for freedom and justice.
