My childhood

With Maxim Gorky, new heroes found their place in Russian literature: no aristocrats, no wealthy individuals, as was common in the 19th century, but very ordinary people from the masses. Gorky, born Alexei Maximovich Peshkov, experienced a childhood full of misery, suffering, and violence, which shaped him and later led him to become the founder of socialist realism.
