"Moscow!" is the title of the young Christa Wolf's diary entry from June 3, 1957 - the excited exclamation of a traveler who has finally arrived. Between 1957 and 1989, the writer travels to the Soviet Union ten times. Her personal records of these excursions reflect her keen observation of the social and political developments in the country. Over the years, the initial euphoria fades, and the writer increasingly reports on the changing conditions in the country, on dissatisfaction and decline.
