The Lord of the Rings: The Companions (NZ / USA 2001, 171 min.):
The shy young hobbit, Frodo Baggins, receives a ring. But this ring is more than just a piece of jewelry.
It is the Master Ring, the one that controls everything, a tool of absolute power that would allow Sauron, the abysmally evil Lord of Mordor, to rule Middle-earth and enslave its peoples. Unless Frodo and his faithful companions, composed of humans, hobbits, a sorcerer, a dwarf and an elven, succeed in transporting the Ring across all Middle-earth, to cast it into the depths of Orodruin, the Fiery Mountain, into the Gap of Fate, where it was cast by Sauron himself, and destroy it forever.
But this journey means to penetrate deep into enemy territory, where the Dark Lord rules and rallies his armies of orcs around him. The entire future is tied inseparably to the fate of the companions...

On their parallel journeys, the companions face the superiority of the two towers - Orthanc in Isengard, where Saruman has assembled an army of ten thousand warriors, and Sauron's fortress of Barad-dr deep inside Mordor. The Lord of the Rings - The Two Towers culminates in the overwhelming battle for the refuge in Helm's Gorge.
