The spirit of tango is essentially the spirit of the city of Buenos Aires and its inhabitants. It strongly represents and describes the way of life in this vast immigrant city, serving as a kind of identity that unites all facets of its residents with their diverse backgrounds and their longing for unity. It has emerged from various musical influences from Europe, Africa, and North America, which is why everyone hears something familiar in tango that resonates with their own music.

Moreover, tango embodies the pain of the immigrant, who misses their distant, old homeland while yearning for a new home—a feeling that many people in this world can relate to. As a Swiss-Argentinian dual citizen, I understand this feeling very well, as I am always far from one of my two homelands (Buenos Aires and Bern). Tango is a way to express this difficult-to-describe longing and also serves as a form of comfort, as listening to and especially playing this music brings one closer to their distant homeland, creating a sense of connection. Mi Bandoneón is my personal tribute to all the outstanding bandoneon players I have encountered throughout my life and studies, who have taught, supported, and influenced me in various ways. The work and music of those great personalities, whom I honor and respect, accompany and nourish me day by day.
