In January 1945, the Red Army liberated the Auschwitz concentration camp. Over a million people were killed there by the Nazis. The audio play "Letters from Hell" is based on the newly restored texts of the Sonderkommando members in Auschwitz-Birkenau, who were forced to assist in the mass murders in the crematoria. The fact that some of them felt the urge to write down their testimonies of horror is a striking testament to humanity. In the face of almost certain death, they wanted only one thing: to inform future generations about what happened.
