Ida has to move. Away from her home, her school, and most importantly: away from her friends. She struggles in her new class. One day, her teacher Miss Cornfield announces that soon every child in the class will receive a magical animal as a companion. It just so happens that the two outsiders, Ida and Benni, are the first to receive their new companions, who are meant to be friends for life. Ida is paired with the fox Rabbat, while Benni gets the turtle Henrietta. The magical animals can not only talk, but each also has a unique personality. While Henrietta is somewhat slow, she is nearly 200 years old and very wise, Rabbat is just as clever as he is witty. Thanks to Rabbat, Ida suddenly becomes the star of the class, and everyone wants to be her friend. Benni remains an outsider. But at least he can skateboard with Henrietta and enjoy his time.
