Aliya, Autumn, Leo, Liann, Nova, Olly, Paisley, and Zac are starting the new school year together. They are growing into friends, and almost everyone in Heartlake City knows the lively group. Wherever they go, there’s always something happening, and they take on every challenge! It’s the first week of school, and a big celebration is planned. Aliya, Autumn, and Leo are in charge of the food. Leo is so obsessed with making friends that he hides his cooking skills, fearing that his new soccer friends would appreciate him less as a cook. Autumn is determined to find pets for her classmates. Aliya's cousin Zac has his first day at school, but the day doesn’t go as expected. The girls gather in Autumn's barn for a pajama party. When Nova tells a spooky story, the evening spirals out of control, bringing the girls closer together than any team-building exercise could have.
