The Onedin Line The Complete Series

England around 1860. Captain James Onedin (Peter Gilmore) uses his last money to purchase the sailing ship Charlotte Rhodes. As part of the deal, he must marry Anne Webster (Anne Stallybrass), the daughter of the previous owner. However, to realize his dream of owning a fleet of cargo ships, James Onedin is willing to do whatever it takes. Anne, on the other hand, wants to be more to him than just an unwanted appendage. With patience and respect, she tries to win his heart. However, women are not welcomed on board, as both Onedin and his first mate Mr. Baines (Howard Lang) agree. In this power struggle, Anne ultimately prevails and sets sail with the two men.

By marrying James, she also marries into his complicated family. Sister Isabel (Jessica Benton) jumps from one affair to another, constantly causing anger and distress. Robert Onedin (Brian Rawlinson), on the other hand, nearly loses everything due to James' financial escapades.
