In music and movement, children have fun, and learning becomes effortless. This simple statement summarizes the essence of this music book, were it not for the aspect of bilingualism included in it. A German-Arabic music book with children's songs aimed at language promotion has a unique position in the world. Germany was unprepared for the arrival of thousands of people who, shaped by experiences of flight and war, suddenly found themselves here. Among them were many children who needed to adapt to the new country and learn German as a foreign language. Children's songs are the best way to motivate these kids. However, such traditional children's songs are not widely known in the Arab cultural sphere and are almost unknown in Syria, where most of the refugee children come from. Therefore, the experienced author Eva Maria Kramer developed the idea of translating German and European children's songs into Arabic early on. She found a capable collaborator in Lamis Sires, who contributed to the competent implementation of the songs into bilingualism with her translations and colorful illustrations. Together, the two authors recorded the songs for the booklet's CD in both German and Arabic. The book also includes valuable educational play suggestions tailored to the everyday life in childcare facilities, along with poetic translations into Arabic, ensuring that especially refugee children from the Middle East can understand the texts. This approach not only provides plenty of fun for the children but also supports the crucial language development necessary for their integration. It is a high-quality concept that demonstrates that learning a new language is not only significant but can also be a source of great joy in the process.
