Fifteen-year-old Brandon longs for the latest and most expensive sneakers so he can escape the reality in which he is small, poor, and teased by everyone. When he finally has the much-coveted kicks, Brandon finds that they make him even more of a target: A brutal gang leader beats him up mercilessly and steals his shoes.
