Small-town life in Canada in the 70s hasn't offered much to Trudy so far. But surely there must be something more than early motherhood, absent men, and hard work. Where is the adventure, the happiness? Trudy lives with her mother and her four-year-old niece in a Canadian small town. The trio tries to stay afloat as best as they can. Trudy doesn't believe in true love - until she meets the daredevil Jules.
