The 24-year-old Kumiko loves the sea and has created her own fantasy world with books and painting, as she has never swum in the deep blue herself. Only in her dreams does she dive like a mermaid through a colorful underwater world full of buildings and fish. Growing up with her overly anxious grandmother, she has seen very little of the world. Josie, as she wants to be called, has been in a wheelchair since birth. After her granddaughter collides with student Tsuneo during one of their rare walks, the 80-year-old hires the young man. He is to take care of Josie during the day. The aspiring marine biologist, who is saving for his study abroad in Mexico, gratefully accepts the job. However, after just a month, he has had enough of the cheeky young woman. Yet, before he quits, he wants to fulfill one last wish for her - and takes her to the sea. Nominated for "Animation of the Year" at the Japan Academy Film Prize, this romantic drama from Studio BONES (My Hero Academia) tells a touching and encouraging story about the will to stand on one's own feet.
