Jesus Christ Superstar

A group of young people reenacts scenes from the life of Jesus and his disciples in the ruins of ancient buildings in the Negev Desert. The focus is on the power political tension that Jesus finds himself in due to the mass success of his sermons. Judas is interpreted as a tragic figure: His skepticism and despair in the face of the Christian doctrine, which has become a drug – the social revolutionary power of which he hoped for – lead him to betrayal and suicide. The brilliantly photographed production sometimes makes itself the subject by satirizing celebrity culture and show business.
