Guardian of Memory - The Giver

The 16-year-old Jonas lives in an apparently perfect world without pain and suffering, but also without memories and feelings. In this society, everything is planned and predetermined - from birth to schooling, the choice of profession and partner, all the way to death.

One day, Jonas is chosen to take on the highest office of the community: he becomes the "Receiver of Memory." He is guided by his predecessor, who passes on his knowledge to Jonas and thus becomes the "Giver." From him, Jonas learns what no one else knows and experiences true joy, love, but also sorrow and pain for the first time. Jonas is meant to preserve the memory of life in an earlier civilization on behalf of all people. However, the more he learns, the clearer it becomes to him that there is only one way to save humanity...
