From the earth to the moon

After the end of the American Civil War, the members of the Cannon Club in Baltimore literally have nothing left to do. The president of the club comes up with a bold idea: a huge cannon with which a bullet can reach the moon is to be built. The members are thrilled, and the entire American nation cheers. At breathtaking speed, the size of the projectile and its trajectory are determined, the launch site is determined and parts of the work are brought in. But just before the project can be completed, a mysterious telegram arrives from Europe that changes everything.
