Teenage girl Ryan moves to a small fishing village on the California coast with her father Matt after the death of her mother. They hope for a new life together with her grandfather Art. While Ryan tries to adjust to her new surroundings, she discovers a mysterious, magical cave. Dolphins swim there, and Ryan meets the enigmatic Coral, a girl her age. She learns that Coral is a mermaid, and the two quickly become best friends. However, they are still unaware of the secret that already connects their families...
