New Year's Eve in Murnau: a man in camouflage shoots out into the night with a blank-firing pistol. It takes a while before anyone realises that someone really has been shot dead. The victim, Markus G&ouml,ldner, is a well-established architect who attracted attention above all for his aggressive commitment to bird protection: he railed against summer fireworks, against wildlife gatherings and against wind turbines. As he has made many enemies, Irmi Mangold and Kathi Reindl make little progress with their investigation. It is only when the four-year-old daughter of a famous fashion blogger disappears that the two detectives realise the links to a case that took place ten years ago but still causes nightmares today ...
