The Mitteldeutsche Rundfunk dares to undertake an incredible technical adventure and transforms the classic into a digital sound wonder. Exclusively for the multichannel technique, the material has been newly adapted by Helmut Peschina.

"A Journey to the Center of the Earth": Professor Lidenbrock, an eccentric expert on rocks and minerals, discovers a guide to the Earth's interior in an old Icelandic book. Together with his nephew Axel, he descends through a volcanic crater and uncovers a breathtaking underground world filled with fascinating landscapes and creatures. Listen to the heartbeat of the Earth: An opulent choir of voices and sounds, the rumble of rocks, the rush of water, and the atmosphere of caves turn the audio play into an acoustic expedition.

"Around the World in 80 Days": The chaotic inventor Phileas Fogg takes on a crazy bet: he aims to circumnavigate the globe in 80 days. A mad endeavor in a time without cars and airplanes. Fortunately, the bumbling explorer has his servant Passepartout by his side. Although he has a shady past, he comes up with at least as many good ideas as his master... Whether the two will arrive back in London on time is not revealed here. However, it is certain that this two-hour audio play will bring plenty of laughter and feature unforgettable appearances from several stars.
