Nightclub owner Chris Pepper (Peter Lawford) assumes the identity of his wealthy, recently deceased twin brother in order to save their club from court with the help of his colleague Charlie Salt (Sammy Davis Jr.). However, Pepper soon discovers clues to his brother's murderers, and together with Salt, he sets out to find the criminals.

In the sequel to the comedy Salt and Pepper directed by Richard Donner in 1968, Jerry Lewis took over the direction, drawing on the two main actors Sammy Davis Jr. and Peter Lawford as well as the screenwriter Michael Pertwee. Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee make cameo appearances in their iconic roles from the Hammer films. The comedy, produced in 1969, premiered in West Germany on April 30, 1971.
