The young St. Petersburg resident Eugene Onegin is bored. In search of distraction, he tries his hand as a landowner in the countryside and encounters the Larin family there. While the older daughter Tatiana soon develops deep feelings for the cynical idler, he demonstratively turns his attention to her younger sister Olga.
