Altered is a collectible card game for two players, where each player brings a deck led by a hero card.

In Altered, you lead two expeditions that explore and discover the land around your home peninsula of Asgartha. One of your expeditions is led by your hero, represented by the hero's expedition marker. The other is led by their companion, represented by the companion's expedition marker. These expeditions move towards each other throughout the game, and your goal is to be the first to bring them together.

The booster display for Altered: Beyond the Gates contains 36 booster packs. Each booster pack includes 1 hero card, 3 rare cards, 8 common cards, and 1 token card (75% chance) or 1 foil card (25% chance). A rare card can be replaced by a unique card (12.5% chance).
