Since childhood, high school students Bianca, Jess, and Casey have been inseparable. That is until Bianca's childhood friend, football star and heartthrob Wesley, casually mentions that everyone sees her as the Duff (Designated Ugly Fat Friend): as the less attractive appendage of the group, she is used by the boys to get closer to Jess and Casey. Furious, she confronts her friends, who are completely unaware of what’s happening. Eventually, the argument escalates into an unfriend action on all social media, and Bianca seeks advice from none other than Wesley. In exchange for tutoring in chemistry, he agrees to help her shed the ugly Duff label and win over her crush Toby. Easy enough—if it weren’t for Wesley’s catty ex Madison, who tries to sabotage Bianca at every turn.
