Dr. Who (Peter Cushing), an inventor and scientist, has designed a machine: the TARDIS! This modified police box serves as both a time machine and a spaceship. The Doctor lives with his granddaughters Susan (Roberta Tovey) and Barbara (Jennie Linden). During a visit, Barbara's friend Ian (Roy Castle) accidentally activates the TARDIS, and the four embark on a journey through time and space into the dark, uncharted depths of the universe.
