Beethoven 1 - A Dog Named Beethoven (USA 1992, 83 min., Rated PG): As a small puppy, the St. Bernard Beethoven escapes from ruthless animal catchers and runs to the typical American family, the Newtons. The children immediately take the dog to their hearts, and even the grumpy dad George likes Beethoven despite all his antics. But the animal thieves do not rest: With a nasty trick, veterinarian Dr. Varnick pretends that Beethoven has attacked him. The threat of a lawsuit forces the Newtons to take their beloved goofball to Varnick for euthanasia. In reality, Varnick intends to use Beethoven for cruel experiments. Fortunately, Dad George uncovers the crooks just in time.
