Dan Torrance struggles to process the horrors he endured as a small child in the Overlook Hotel. On top of that, he has inherited his father's addiction and diligently attends Alcoholics Anonymous meetings. He now uses his paranormal abilities, the Shining, in his profession: in a hospice, he provides comfort to the dying in their final hours. He is affectionately called Doctor Sleep. Meanwhile, a cult is roaming across America in search of their life elixir. Their members appear as unremarkable as your average retired tourist in polyester clothing, enamored with their RVs. But they are nearly immortal, feeding off the last breath of those who possess the Shining. The girl Abra Stone possesses it in abundance and becomes the target of the murderous cult. To save her, Dan awakens the demons that lie dormant within him and calls them into a decisive battle.
