Buck's happy dog life is completely turned upside down when he is torn from his home in California and suddenly finds himself in the unfamiliar wilderness of Alaska during the Gold Rush. He is placed in a pack of sled dogs and must first prove himself here. After Buck refuses a dangerous command, he is severely injured. Fortunately, he is found by John Thornton, who nurses Buck back to health. The two become inseparable friends, and Buck embarks on the adventure of his life until he ultimately finds his true place in the world.
