Together they attend high school - just like any normal teenagers. However, Tai and his friends are hiding a secret: they are DigiDestined who ventured into the digital world some time ago and formed bonds with digital monsters. But now they must face entirely different problems than they did in their childhood. The DigiDestined of yesteryear hardly have time for each other anymore. Tai plays soccer, Matt has a band, Mimi is in the USA, and little TK has grown quite a bit. The gates to the DigiWorld have long been closed. But suddenly Kuwagamon wreaks havoc in Odaiba, and shortly thereafter, the Digimon are back by their partners' sides. However, the joy of their reunion doesn't last long, as a new, overwhelming enemy emerges, and the DigiDestined sense that this battle is just the beginning of a new adventure whose scale they cannot yet comprehend.
