Eleven-year-old Mona (Dileyla Agirman) has fled with her Kurdish family from Syria and starts attending a school in Berlin's Wedding district. Mona doesn't speak a word of German, but she knows football. The dedicated teacher Mr. Chepovsky (Andreas Döhler), known as Mr. Che, recognizes her extraordinary talent and includes her in the girls' team. Mona is a fighter, but soon realizes that only by playing together with the other girls can they achieve victory.
