The marble track system was developed in the seventies, when Matthias Etter completed an internship as a social pedagogue at a special school. It all started with a few clay cubes, created as a three-dimensional puzzle game for children with motor weaknesses. It was only thanks to the ingenuity of the carpenter Hans Nyfeler that a series of the tricky cubes with curved chutes and tunnels could also be made of wood in 1986. Today, cuboro is still manufactured from FSC-certified Swiss beech wood in the Nyfeler family carpenter's workshop, under extremely ecological and qualitative specifications. With a lot of persuasion, Matthias Etter got himself a place at the fully booked Ornaris trade fair in Bern in 1986. The only free space to present the new cubes was between the ladies' and gents' toilets. The first orders for the Panda catalogue were received from toy retailers and WWF Switzerland. Further appearances at international toy fairs aroused interest in Europe, Japan, Korea and America. Today, the cuboro marble run is sold in more than 30 countries.
