10-year-old Maddie has a special sense of humor and loves to make the kids in her class laugh with colorful sticker mustaches. Everything would be so nice if it weren't for the dominant classmate who rules the fourth grade and surrounds herself with a different entourage every day depending on her mood, and whom Maddie wishes to be friends with. But then Maddie's life takes a completely different turn when it turns out that she has a brain tumor. Thanks to her positive attitude, Maddie manages to overcome all the challenges that her illness brings and becomes an inspiration for her friends and family.

Julia Nachtmann sensitively expresses the courage and hope of this story. "Colorful Mustache Days" is based on true events: Maddie, the daughter of author duo Chad Morris and Shelly Brown, was diagnosed with a brain tumor when she was nine years old. Thanks to her unique humor and great confidence, Maddie got through this difficult time. During her illness, she collected colorful mustaches, sparking a whole mustache movement. Today, Maddie is completely healthy again, but she still has a great fondness for mustaches.
