Only their ashes and their hands and feet are left. When forensic doctor David Hunter examines the remains of the woman on the Scottish island of Runa, he is certain that her death was no accident. He wants to share his findings with the superintendent in Lewis, but a storm cuts the rough island off from the outside world. The next morning, the constable who was supposed to guard the crime scene is dead. Hunter realizes in horror that the killer is on the island. He must find him before he strikes again.
