After his latest creation accidentally destroys the city center and then shoots into the sky, Flint Lockwood initially fears that his career as an inventor is over. But then the incredible happens: it starts raining delicious cheeseburgers - his machine works! However, the people can't get enough of the treats until the device goes haywire and unleashes gigantic spaghetti tornadoes with massive meatballs onto the earth. With the help of weather reporter Sam Sparks and his assistant Steve, a talking monkey, Flint must find a way to shut down the rampaging machine before the world is buried under the mega-sized meatballs.
