Product details
The epic historical spectacle starring global superstar Catherine Zeta-Jones tells the gripping story of a German princess on the Russian throne.
Part 1: When the fifteen-year-old Princess Sophia of Anhalt-Zerbst marries the Russian heir Peter under the name "Catherine," it marks the beginning of a loveless marriage that remains unconsummated. The young Catherine seeks love and tenderness from Saltykov, a young nobleman, and soon gives birth to the longed-for heir. However, when Empress Elizabeth dies without naming a successor, a bitter struggle for the crown ignites between Catherine and her husband.
Part 2: After her husband is murdered, Catherine ascends to the throne. Together with Potemkin, an educated and witty officer, Catherine manages to break the power of the clergy.
