Brecht:Brecht rehearses Galileo,MP3-CD

On December 12, Brecht gathers the actors of the Berliner Ensemble in the auditorium. Two days later, he begins the staged rehearsals for his play "Life of Galileo," which, due to his deteriorating health, mostly takes place only from ten to twelve o'clock. In March, he interrupts the rehearsal work and will not resume it. He dies in August 1956. The assistant director Hans Bunge had set up a tape recorder during the rehearsals, resulting in a unique document that sheds new light on the myth of Brecht's theatrical work. It showcases the practical Brecht, who conveys his perspective on characters and the world with great directness during the rehearsal process. There is no theory, only a desire to intervene, humor, and sensuality. Director Stephan Suschke has organized the extensive material and created a commented audio documentation.
