Charles Duchemin, a restaurant critic and publisher of the "Guide Duchemin," is the nightmare of all chefs. Not the slightest flaw escapes the grumpy gourmet, as he has made it his mission to save French culinary culture. He travels across France with his son, who would much rather be a circus clown, to scrutinize restaurants closely. His arch-nemesis, Tricatel, on the other hand, runs a chain of fast-food restaurants, whose artificially produced dishes are, of course, a thorn in Charles's side. Promptly, Tricatel challenges the renowned critic to prove his skills on a talk show. When he finally presents Charles with one of his synthetic dishes that destroys his taste buds, war is officially declared between the two, and Charles is determined to spoil his rival's broth.
